Dependent Verification Project Starts Soon

For Immediate Release: 08/05/2009

In September we will send letters to members about our new process of confirming eligibility of family members on an account.

The Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) Program provides health benefits to employees, retirees, former employees, and their dependents who qualify. Under PEBB rules, we must also ensure that people who do not qualify for PEBB benefits are not receiving them.

This fall, PEBB will verify eligibility for all family members (except extended dependents and dependents with disabilities) enrolled on an employee’s or non-Medicare retiree’s account.

PEBB will mail a letter to subscribers in September providing information on PEBB eligibility rules and including directions for subscribers to either:

  • Remove their ineligible dependents, or
  • Provide proof for their eligible dependents (such as a copy of a tax return).

Subscribers must respond by the end of the annual open enrollment period, November 30, 2009.
