Remember: Nov. 30 is deadline to verify your dependents

For Immediate Release: 11/25/2009

In September, the PEBB Program mailed letters to employees and non-Medicare retirees who covered dependents on their PEBB account as of September 1. The letter requested that you verify your dependent(s) eligibility for PEBB benefits or voluntarily remove them from your account by November 30, 2009.

If you have already sent your documents, thank you! It will take a few weeks for us to process them. We will send you a letter either confirming verification of your dependents’ eligibility or your voluntary cancellation of your dependents’ coverage, or to ask for additional information.

If you haven’t responded yet, do so by November 30. See the types of documentation required and more answers to your questions on PEBB’s website.

New Questions and Answers

I submitted my documents in time but I haven’t received my verification letter.  What should I do?
You don’t need to do anything. Your dependent will not lose coverage if PEBB does not process your document by November 30. PEBB will send your follow-up status letter once your document has been processed.

I submitted my documents and PEBB mailed me a follow-up status letter. Do I need to do anything else?
No further action is required unless it is specifically requested in your follow-up status letter.

I didn’t submit my documents by November 30.  Will my dependents lose coverage on that date?
No. This date is the initial deadline for subscribers to submit their verification documents. The only dependents whose coverage will end on December 31, 2009 are those whom subscribers have voluntarily removed from their account.

What will happen after November 30?
PEBB will:

  1. Make sure that all documents received are accounted for in our system.
  2. Create a list of subscribers who have not yet responded.
  3. Send a reminder letter on or about December 21 to those subscribers.
